Let's talk real here. As a fashion blogger, I work with a lot of brands. It's a mostly fun part of this little internet hobby. As part of that, every once and while I get asked by a brand to review and assess their clothing, fit and designs in a haul. Yesterday I received a box of items for just this purpose only to open it and find items I wouldn't pay more than 2 dollars for, probably only at a market abroad, to wear once and then save for 10 years until I finally realize I do not need a thread bare tank top that says "Austria: no kangaroos" for my posterity to treasure. Let's talk about these garbage goods I received. First off everything had that weird lingering cheap fabric smell, that you can't ever wash away. There was a jacket constructed of material akin to the netted bags you buy clementines in, a dress made of poorly printed, scratchy fabric and a skirt that looked like an uncoordinated 5th grader with poor eyesight's home economics project. I opened these three items then promptly wrapped them back up, put them back in their box and sent them back from whence they came. And it sucks. Because I get excited about new options- especially cost effective ones. I always get so pumped. And today? I feel like I just got stood up for prom. It's the worst. Don't expect me to promote your business that takes dollar store clearance rack fabric, construction and design and tries to pass it off as smart, stylish plus size clothing. Nope. Not today, Satan. Now off to write a very uncomfortable email to said brand about why I can't work with them for moral and ethical reasons. Just another day in the life an accidental fashion blogger. At least I'm in metallics. I can handle anything when I'm wearing a little rose gold lamé.
