To you - yes you,
Happy National Pet Day! I wanted to take a moment to tell you about the #pet
that changed my life. Meet #Wilbur
. He was an owner surrender that I started #fostering
Rescue in #Minneapolis
, MN. I knew instantly that he had found his #home
and that home was going to be with me. We fell in #love
with each other right away. Not only has he shown me unconditional love over the last few years he also helped me find my voice in #advocacy
. Everything I do is for him and #families
like ours. From getting a Master's degree in Advocacy and Political Leadership to managing our housing database, and #volunteering
countless hours to make sure that families like ours always have a place to live. He has truly changed the lives of many through his love and ability to #educate
on how these dogs can be and are inherently good. Wilbur received his Canine Good Citizen Award in December 2016 and loves sporting his CGC bandanna and patch at our pack walks and events where dogs are allowed to help #change
the stigmas that many community members still have. Wilbur and I are also featured in this year's Pinups for Pitbulls, Inc. calendar as Mr. and Ms. April. We truly believe in working together with other advocacy and #rescue
organizations and understand that through building coalitions we will one day end Breed Discriminatory Practices.
We hope that you find your own story and continue advocating for the dog(s) in your life. We know that we won't be stopping any time soon.
In honor of National Pet Day, make a $10 donation to our Database Fundraiser to help us keep families together.
